Bai Srob

This is a typical breakfast for Khmer people, called Bai Srob.

I never know that Bai Srob now cost me 8500 Reil ( is about $2) at Russina Market. When i was young about 10 years ago, one breakfast it cost me only 1500-2000 Reil only, and see the inflation now is very big. How can poor people survive @.@

I really do not know what are the causes this inflation in Cambodia, but willing to find out more!

Comments

When I was young, it costs only 500R. I ate before I went to class... :D

It is great that u concern bout the poor. but i just wonder when u ate some local food owned by the average Cambodian at the price of bout $2, u talk bout it. how about when u went to some fancy cafe in the town which r owned by the more wealthy n sometime even owned by the foreigners, it costs u at least $5 just for a cup of coffee n/or piece of bread, y dun u even mention bout the poor?

Its really okay that you disagree with my post, and it really okay to assume anything about me :D as long as you give people your own reasonable opinion over other people thought.

First, i like writing my own style which wouldn't consider as a consistent Englsih. Second, i pity the pity in term on the high inflation which government or anyone care to deal about it. Third, i believe that i did not look down anyone, or company a normal food (that i eat almost everyday at market) to a fancy restaurant!!! have you mentioned anything about those fancy restaurant? My idea was that if i spend $2 just for a Baisrob that i already complain its expensive, which means that the poor will not be able to afford just to have daily life since rice, pork, beef... are damn expensive. Be aware of that most products are imported from neighborhood countries so it will come with tax, transportation so it won't be cheap at all. Whatsoever, before you jump into any conclusion, you'd better give your own opinion first!!! :D good day sir/mam

My comment was not to disagree or agree with anything u wrote/posted. Also it was not a judgmental or conclusive statement but rather it was a question. I don't know how you get me so wrong that I would disagree or judge you or make any conclusion on you whom I barely know about. I would never do such thing. I actually ask you that question because I just wanna know if you ever feel the same way when you spend your money on the fancy foods at fancy restaurant. N my point here is "be fair and consistent". I'm not telling/teaching you anything. But i just believe that one should be fair and consistent on what he/she says/thinks/does. If you don't feel right to spend $2 for rice pork then you shouldn't feel so right to spend $5 for cup of coffee either. Similarly if you feel right to spend $5 for a cup of coffee then you shouldn't feel so wrong to spend $2 for rice pork. And i don't expect you to agree with me because it is not important whether you agree or not. The importance is that I have my opinion written out! and you too have a good day pretty young lady :)

I guess the anonymous there doesn't really understand the term Mass product VS premium product. u pay higher price for more premium product, or fancy restaurant with air-conditioners. At least it gives you a reason to pay higher price. How about Bay srob? does it justify the higher price? The writer is trying to make a point on mass product that people is using everyday with very high price point. Premium product is not in this discussion.
